Let It Go
Girl, we are not meant to carry it all on our own. We aren’t called to be perfect or right 100% of the time – contrary to what we see and hear around us. Did you know that the Hebrew word for “perfect” is different than our typical western definition? When the Bible speaks of “perfect” it actually speaks more to the concept of being “complete” and that we are all we need to be in Christ. Wow. What a huge relief! I seem to carry around this idea of having to be perfect - based on our culture and what I thought I had been told all my life; I’ve created within me this pressure to have to know how to be a great multi-tasker, have great hair days allllll the time, have well-behaved children, have a happy marriage without any arguments, have a successful career, have the approval of not only my family and friends but everyone on social media. No wonder I get so overwhelmed. It is just so unrealistic. What is it that has you so weighed down? Whenever my Mom used to pick up my purse, she would look at me and say “Mama, que tienes en tu cartera? Estas cargando piedras?” Translated that means, “Mama, what do you have in your purse? Are you carrying rocks?” Let’s clean out our purse and get rid of all the rocks that are weighing us down and LET. IT. GO. I know, easier said then done, right? But we have to start somewhere. Maybe you aren’t at a point where you can turn your purse upside down, shake it and get rid of everything at once. But can we at least go through what we have on the inside and start with one rock? Just one. Can we trust God with one thing and know that the more we let go and trust, the more we will see true freedom and peace come our way? I saw Him do it for me. I know He can do it for you.
Know that God created you to be uniquely you. He loves you. You are enough. There is nothing extra you have to be or do for God to love you more. You don’t have to tithe more, go to church more, do anything more to get God’s approval. You already have it. He is meeting you right where you are. Broken or whole. Tears or no tears. Fearful or in peace. I mean God isn’t afraid of anything you are carrying. Let’s lean in to what God is truly saying and the rest only He can truly offer. One step at a time. He has got. You are so loved.
